Description

Captured in 2005 ( I think )

Imaged using my old 10" Dob, no tracking. The camera was an elderly Panasonic video camera the size and weight of a brick. It was shot Afocal through a 12.5mm eyepiece and 2.5x barlow, I used the camera's built in 17x zoom to give more image scale.

I had to use one hand to guide the scope, the other hand to work the camera. With much practice, I could capture around 15 seconds of footage.

The video was then copied to disk using a DVD recorder, then the .avi was run through Virtual Dub to extract the individual sub, then there was the laborious task of checking each sub's quality, deleting those not up to scratch. The remaining subs were then stacked in Registax 3. The individual images comprise of stacks of approx 100 subs, the image size was just 320x240.

This was the first image that I ever had published.
